The customer doesn't drive a steam car does he?
Nothing wrong with the cartridge but being rimmed isn't the best idea for a bolt action rifle. Now I could understand a double or a falling block action, a friend has a Lewis Potter Ruger #1 in .303 and that is really something nice, but a bolt action.

I fired a .303 double made near here on the Black Isle about 25 years ago - it was a dream to shoot. Alex Henry, Daniel Fraser and Farquharson all made .303 Falling Blocks in the old days.

It sort of would be possible to get a new Enfield action.
Try and find one of the unissued No4 Mk2`s.
Having said that,and with all due respect,it would be a shame to "Bubba" a very collectable rifle!

That's a shame as the K31 action could just work with the single stack magazine as long as the rims were loaded in front of each other.

I was toying with the idea of a new build .303 sporting rifle recently. However the costs and lack of suitable component parts were somewhat prohibitive. In the end I spent a lot of time trawling around auctions and contacting gun dealers and eventually came up with this beauty.
the rifle is based on a P14 action that has had the top of the receiver milled flat to allow the fitting of a scope. other than the usual proof marks (which suggest the rifle was converted in 1983) and action serial no. there are no other markings to indicate who the rifle was converted by. The quality of workmanship of the conversion is excellent and the blueing job is one of the finest finishes I have seen on a rifle. I personally think sourcing a good condition p14 action and modifying it is the sensible way to go with such a project.

A Remington 788 action would handle the .303 round with no problem. Its been out of production for awhile but they are pretty easily found over here in the U.S. It is an extremely strong and stiff action also while being lightweight. The magazine is limited to 3 rounds as I remember. It was used for .30-30 as well as .308 so you can see that it is up to handling a .303.
