Re: Good load for my 7.62 AI
In my AT i've just got a load that gives one ragged hole at 100yards (tested in an indoor tunnel range), 175 SMK, 42.3 grains of IMR4064, federal primers. I'm getting just over 2600fps out of it, haven't got out to shoot it at range yet, but if it performs anything like i think it will i'll be very happy.
How are you finding your AT? I'm still waiting on the muzzle brake to be delivered, i ordered it with the thread & apparently they haven't been made yet!
I'm just trying to work up a load with the 155 Scenars using N140, will post back when i have something

Re: Good load for my 7.62 AI
I was at Sennybridge F range last Saturday with 3 mates and we were all shooting AI`s
One AX with moderator in 308, Two AW`s in 308 and my AE3 in 260.
The AX was using Winchester factory, one AW 155gn scenars and MEN factory and the other AW 150gn smk`s (that is 150gn)
All were knocking over the 1000metre fig11,not every time as it was blustery.

Still waiting for the muzzle brake for my AT too! Just getting tooled up for reloading so very interested in the comments.
Re: Good load for my 7.62 AI
I've just started reloading too, but I'm already getting one hole groups with my loads, makes me smile every time :shakeshout:pockets99 wrote:Still waiting for the muzzle brake for my AT too! Just getting tooled up for reloading so very interested in the comments.
Sporting services told me text week for the muzzle brake, but I'm not holding my breath..

Try 155 smk's as Scenars are reported as giving poor accuracy at longer ranges. I use 155 smk with 42.5 grains of VV N140 in Lapua cases with Federal primers in my AW 7.62 which also give a single hole at 100 yds and good performance at 600 yds as well. For longer ranges try 170 grain Lapua Lock Base with 45.5 grains of VV N140.alijnclarke wrote:In my AT i've just got a load that gives one ragged hole at 100yards (tested in an indoor tunnel range), 175 SMK, 42.3 grains of IMR4064, federal primers. I really like my AW's - I also have .338LM, but far prefer shooting the 7.62 probably because I use it more - .338LM is not allowed at Bisley, but I've shot it a few times at WMS and Warminster ranges
Re: Good load for my 7.62 AI
You'll find the AI's are very forgiving and so long as the reloads are consistent they will fire just about anything accurately at short range.alijnclarke wrote:I've just started reloading too, but I'm already getting one hole groups with my loads, makes me smile every time :shakeshout:pockets99 wrote:Still waiting for the muzzle brake for my AT too! Yeah I've been finding that out, all around seems like a very accurate rifle.ColinR wrote:You'll find the AI's are very forgiving and so long as the reloads are consistent they will fire just about anything accurately at short range.alijnclarke wrote:I've just started reloading too, but I'm already getting one hole groups with my loads, makes me smile every time :shakeshout:pockets99 wrote:Still waiting for the muzzle brake for my AT too! I was actually told to get the 155 smks, but my local shop didn't have any so thought I would try the scenars first. I was shooting them last night at 500m ish and they were working very well, but I'll get some smks when I see them.
For longer range stuff I've been using the 175smk but I'm still trying to perfect my load, think I can get it a little quicker. Still supersonic at 1000 yards though
