Just spoken to my Firearms department to chase up my variation, four weeks and counting....lots of rustling paper....followed by eeeemmmm, hang on will you!

After five minutes on hold and I was told, Oh you want TWO MORE WEAPONS in a very accusational way, Very clearly this was the first time they had even looked at the application form!!!

I told them that I don't require any weapons, but I would like two additional firearms, one being a one for one variation, the other being .30-06 for my Springfield A4 thats still waiting to be picked up!!!!!

I asked them, as politely as I could, had they actually read the supporting letter.......followed by more rustling paper and a speed reading break.....

Oh yes, the individual winged it......I remember now, it will be with you next week!

So how much are properties in Wilshire guys.....I am only four miles from the border!!!!!!

I think maybe the same as your place or even a little cheaper depending on the area Though if you were loaded I know at least 1 20 acre place for sale with a nice hillside backstop Lotto win tonight please

Though still not on par with Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset have got their act together with variation times, my last variation took a week, just sent it in for a 1 for 1 on the promise it will be a similar length of time. They still insist on calling firearms weapons though, however, they made no fuss about me being giving me the authority for a further 5 'weapons' giving me a grand total of 17.

They still make other Sh!t up as they go though.

Yeah I can 2nd that, this time last year when I enquired about a 1 for 1 variation timescale I was told they were just starting to process variations received in October so expect it to be at least 4 months, when I did one in October last year it was back with me in around 2 weeks unfortunately with errors on but corrected one was back within 2 days, so they are getting much better.

From what I have read on here over the last year or so Wiltshire seems to be the quickest with many people saying they can just drop in and get a variation done there and then, if only :roll:

If you can get into the office in Devizes you can indeed drop your variation of to be done same day. I cant fault the service I have had so far from Wilts. There ie rumours (hopefully true) that they will be testing online variations and acquisition notifications.

Sorry to rain on your parade mate but.......

I can email acquisitions in to (in fact I have done for all of mine)... I am referring to a secure online eCommerce site that Wilts may be running a pilot on that will allow you to apply for variations (& possibly renewals) and also notify of an acquisition.

Merseyside allowed me to email an aqusition with a scan of the paperwork that the rfd gave me ..
