Use of electronic targetry on MOD ranges now banned

That is the same, all electronic targetry where we are.

I presume Dave is talking about Wathgill 6c range that is and ETR range that has just been upgraded.


All the same issue from my perspective.

All I know is I have received a email from my Club Secretary informing me that we will not be allowed to use the electronic targets on the range we have booked on Saturday. He has checked with the booking office etc and they have confirmed that this is correct and Civilian shooting clubs are no longer allowed to use electronic targets on out local MOD ranges and that it was discussed between the MOD and the NRA. As this is a electronic range and we have booked it through out the 2014 season it means we are stuffed.

The NRA are not, as far as I know, aware of this. Please inform me of the person in the NRA who knows about this.

Along with this when I reported this to the NRA before Christmas the Landmarc employee also told me that they would be no longer maintaining the gallery targets and frames as the military would only be using the new electronic ETR stuff.

I was hoping you could tell me I don't work for the NRA or may be our Northern rep could shed some light on it.
I wont have any more information until I attend the range on Saturday. Hopefully I have misunderstood the email and got it totally wrong.

Dave I was told that this was going to happen by Landmarc when we were at Sturdy house before Christmas. I reported this immediately to the NRA referencing Sturdy House and 6 Charlie.

I would check about the stick ins as well, as I was told that they were only to be allowed out to 100yrds.

My rifle club helped the MOD and Lockheed Martin for the trials of the new Electronic Target equipment by providing club members and their rifles. Apparently civilian shooters were more consistent accuracy wise when it came to supporting the trials work then the average Squaddy.

A bit of a poor show if we are then not allowed to use it, could this be like last years panic when the MOD released an incorrect information release stating we couldn't fire tracer on their ranges. Not actually true if it is a field range like Sennybridge F.

I was going to Sennybridge F on the 22nd with a friend to spend a happy day with the ETR and much surplus .303 (Lots of interesting stuff including some Kynoch and HXP with an 83 headstamp). Even have a hotel booked in Brecon so could be up nice and early for the range briefing.

Poor show if true!

Also hope that it is not true that the NRA negotiated us up the creek over this one, still rather irritated about their support for the SLR ban.

Never have been allowed to use ETR range at Barry Buddon. That was down to a local decision I believe.

The range I am referring to is all electronic targets from 50 to 350 yards if you can not use them there is no point in booking it.
