Wonder if the tabloids will try and send an undercover bluffer again this year? Keep an eye out for Neil Millard! (he wasn't a happy bunny when I clocked him scribbling in shorthand last year and wandered over with a big poo-eating grin to loudly repeat the word "journalist". He genuinely thought he was going to get dragged out the back and shot )

Don't think I have seen anyone go that pasty in a long time. Gave me a good laugh when he kept eyeing the Uzi and Stg44...

Ah yes Neil Millard:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... cials.html

I clocked him as well looking at the uzi, stg and MP15. I gave him a few polite points to consider about his article in the Sun entitled:

Massacre guns on sale in the UK

I pointed out that just because they are dressed up to look tactical doesn't make them the same gun as used in a recent shooting in America. That all guns whilst dangerous are heavily legislated on in this country and the people at the show have jumped through many hoops to be allowed to own them unlike the person in America. What right does he have to say that tactical style rifles have no place in this country, there are many who compete in competition with that type of rifle including me. The guns he wrote about are not assault rifles or "massacre guns"!

He meekly stated the editor had changed aspects of his article but then said pointing at the uzi, stg and m&p-15 that people who were interested in those were probably not safe and there is no place for rifles looking like that. I firmly told him that:

a) I own that type of rifle and I did not appreciate his defamatory statement about my character.
b) That it is his opinion that there is no place for rifles looking like that and if he walked around the show stating that he would find many hundreds that day who would disagree with his opinion.

I think he had a bad day!

As for this years show, can't go now. My girlfriend has decided she wants a romantic weekend away for Valentines, for some reason the NAC doesn't fall in her list of suitable destinations.

Oh, that's not good to hear - it's my first year this year so I don't know what to expect | avoid.

Got any pointers? Do's | Don'ts?

If you like crowds, and all that that means, then it could be for you.

Parking has been an issue in the past and as it is fields then I suggest going in 4 x 4 seeing as how they are likely to be saturated.

Don't expect many bargains or discounting as the cost for retailers to be there isn't cheap so they will need to recover their costs.

Take a flask and sandwiches to avoid queues and being ripped off.

Been to the last 2 and last year was a shambles, maybe it will be better this year with the extra day but I can't justify going this year as would like to go on the Friday but with a day off, fuel and entrance its a £250 day out before I even set foot in the place, maybe next year if the reports comeback that it was much better run this year and that they actually had someone directing traffic and signage in the site, had to use sat nav just to find my way out last year.

I had to laugh last year with so many people complaining about all the Walter Mitty airsofters dressed to the nines in full combat gear, I didn't have a problem with them, it was all the green brigade who were in their full realtree camo outfits (surely you own some normal clothes?) that thought it was fine to all stand and chat to each other in big groups in the middle of the isles so no one else could get around.

I'm thinking maybe go to something at Bisley this year, can anyone recommend an event with a decent sales area to it, never been before?

To Primer:
The Phoenix or Trafalgar really the only events with half decent " shows ".
Trafalgar more the "wood n rusty" gun show.

Just got back. Not as bad as last year, although it was getting pretty busy when we left around 12:30. Parking was better, on actual tarmac not a muddy field, although they could still have done with a few more people in hi-vis jackets to help direct you. Didn't seem to be as many stalls as last year and there was definitely more room to walk about in. My haul from this years trip :)
