I fall under kent, previously when I asked about ammunition I was told I could put some on there if I wished but there was no need to, at my last meeting with my FEO he explained that there had been a change of opinion and that I would be advised to enter some ammunition on my FAC as I loaded it, this was to give supporting evidence of being an active shooter and in the unlikely chance of my being stopped/found in possession of ammunition I'd have evidence of where it came from at the time on enquiry rather than having to refer to loading logs at home.
It was also said that I was under no obligation to do so, but it could make things easier in future.
As I'd be more than happy to show my FEO my loading logs (if he asked)and I personally see no reason not to keep some on my FAC. I'd be interested if their is a valid point to stop me putting ammunition on my FAC that I've loaded (other than you don't have to so don't)

So they are asking you to keep unnecessary records and to make unrequired entries on a certificate just to save them effort when it comes around to renewal time, in that they don't have to check your shooting record at a club in the case of target shooting.
I go renewal after renewal with no entries on my certificate other than .22 rimfire and it has never been questioned other than a comment by the FEO "you do reload don't you?".

While I abide by the law and am most careful to do so, I won't go out of my way to supply unnecessary information, and in fact object on principle to having to maintain a shooting log at my shooting club. Anybody who knows me knows that I am a very active shooter and who can quite clearly demonstrate so without the need for such records which are only really a control measure imposed to harass the legitimate shooter.

Why do people keep loading logs, is there any reason other for their own wishes?

No reason other than to be able to record you loads for whatever reasons you have. I'm constantly experimenting with different guns, calibres and components and my logs are to capture this data and inform me later on my findings. Don't want to be re-inventing the wheel and it helps my learning on the subject. It also keeps a track of the number rounds fired through my guns.
