Yes that's what they invented safety catches, to help prevent that type of incident.

What about a gravity activated safety, tilt the gun forward, safety on!

and if the safety catch is left off? :cool2: just as likely as forgettting to make sure the holster is clear of obstructions, the poor bugger got caught by Sods Law! it happens and unless you can come up with an auto setting safety that is 100% infallible and never sticks in the "on" position then these things will happen from time to time, just as they did with revolvers and 1911's.

When I was in Kuwait for a year at least 2 policemen shot themselves in the foot.
Then again, another crashed a car because his toe was stuck in the air vent.

You call it sods law , I call it negligence . Safety devices on any mechanical device are to help cut down on incidents not stop them. If it happened like you said than a applied safety catch could have prevented the incident. Could it not. ? If you point is that these things happen, the logic of that would be remove all safety devices from anything that has them as there is no point accidents happen . Do you not think safety catches have prevented unintentional discharges. ?

I know I have shot them at the club, only because it would be rude to say no if a club member askes would you like a shot with their Glock.

Trigger Safety >

The trigger safety is incorporated into the trigger in the form of a lever and when in the forward position, blocks the trigger from moving rearward. To fire the pistol, the trigger safety and the trigger itself, must be deliberately depressed at the same time. If the trigger safety is not depressed, the trigger will not move rearwards and allow the pistol to fire.

The safety device built into the Glock trigger is a joke, I have seen people have more problems pulling the trigger on the Savage.
