Zulu is one of my favourite films as well. As a reenactor of the anglo zulu wars it has been my rare privilige to wear the scarlet tunic and the white helmet and to be a part of a martini henry armed infantry section, and i must admit a full section volley does shake the ground and darken the sky with the sheer amount of smoke produced. With every ear splitting volley my mind is drawn to the brave warriors of of two nations who died for their king and queen 135 years ago.

Great film....I watch it frequently.........best thing though.....I was at Isandlawanha and Rorke's Drift last May and had a guided tour of the battlefield and Rorke's Drift with a local Zulu guide....great guy.

I always think of the film when I shoot my Martini Henrys.......

Although the film was shot about 200 miles away from the actual place....

Great film but the descendants of Pvt Henry Hook VC were a bit aggrieved when it was aired as he was a model soldier in real life.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Love the film. Saw it on TV in about 1966 or so. It made quite the impression on me and spurred an interest in the history of South Africa and the various conflicts fought in the country over the decades. It finally led me to a trip to the RSA and Zimbabwe in 1985 and although I never made it to the sites of the battles memorialized in Zulu and Zulu Dawn I was able to soak up a lot of the history of the country in my month-long visit.

I read somewhere that fired MH cases could still be scuffed out of the ground at Isandlwana up until the 80s.

I Purchased my 11th last weekend, a 1879 Enfield made Mk III Stamped to the East Yorkshire Regiment, they are great bits of kit.

You actually own 11 Martiny Henry ?
Thinking of retaking Khartoum ? ;)

Silly question . How is the law works ? I assume you have them as obsolete rifle ?
Can you still shot them ?

A way or an other, that must be a very impressive, interesting and nice collection !!
