I use a collect chuck however I seldom do this as invariably end up machining new pins for people instead. My favourite is take a Lee Full length Sizer, open it up inside, then take the stem machine down the tip to suit small primers and machine the expander off and you have an instant universal de-capper. This means I do not have to worry about cleaning brass first, then knocking the primers out and then cleaning the pockets, I just pop the primers, tumble and the size or neck size and load.
If you get one of the universal de cappers, you can then set it up to do the SR primers and it will do all of the larger holed primers as well.

I was lucky as a certain well known chap who likes polishing things modified a die for me based on a lee full size .308 die.

This keeps a forster collar on and as soon as I come home the brass goes through this and is de capped before being cleaned.

You might be able to buy forster pins but I don't know if the fit any other spindles.

I don't use pins any more as I just use the lee die to de cap.

It is annoying the first time you get a pin stuck tesnews

As it is the first (and usually only) time you attempt to de cap a berdan primered case clapclap

Could you ream out the primer pockets and flash holes to take proper primers like what 308's were meant to have?

JohnG

(Sorry, had to do it!!!)

I think that sort of defeats the object of the exercise.

If God meant us to fly he'd have given us wings.
If God meant us to swim, we'd have been given fins.
If 308 cases were meant to have small rifle primers he'd have sent some small pins to Midway!!!!!!

JohnG :-))

(My posts have been meant to be lighthearted on this subject!!!)

I will pass this onto the majority of the GB Fclass F/TR guys (In fact the majority of F/TR guys I know) who will no doubt seize on the idea Jon.

I am sure it will increase the performance of the loads no end :good:

Or we could just overload the things and wait for the pockets to reach LR proportions :good:
