Nottingham is probably closer and maybe a greater choice too!

Ballymena RPC. Great range, great folk, great craic and they take £s and speak English whoop whoop.

My first thought was NI or even IOM.
Shame it is so expensive to travel to NI and to stay there,

That's why the Coppens club in Belgium is a good choice for many -- the cost of a day trip with a car via Dover to Calais is about £30, and that can be shared amongst a number of passengers; accommodation at reasonable prices can be had in Dover, which just leaves you the expense and time involved from getting from your own bit of the UK to Dover. I've found the overall cost quite reasonable.

In the past, I have overnighted in Knokke, but that can put the ferry cost up quite a bit, too, so it's not always the most cost-effective way of shooting at Coppens.

I've been shooting at the Coppens club since 2000; I like it. Quite a few Brits go regularly. Only problem is the new range opening times -- mornings only during the weekend, which means a day trip during the week. But the range times do change, so perhaps weekend daytrips and shooting will become possible again.

David.

£30 each way to Belfast International, expensive? Nice little rural hotel. Only gets expensive if you go on the lash in Belfast.

The ferry can be dear so car hire across there may be cheaper.

Sadly flights are now x4 for my lot, and I cant find a caravan never mind a hotel room for less than a holiday in the sun. Don't forget the cost of car hire as well.

I'm planning on shooting at Coppens as mentioned in this thread. (Dover - Dunkirk - Bruges)

Out of interest what is required for me to travel in France and Belgium with my own firearms?

Are self loading centrefire rifles permitted in Belgium? Never shot one :bad:

Depends what you want to do.

Contact the SLG Bisley guys - they are always over to Germany shooting loads of comps. They shoot at Leitmar which is near Marsberg. They are next over mid January shooting the Embassy cup which admittedly is a shotgun match but they take time out to shoot some pistol.

SLG also have been known to organize and shoot comps over in Jersey and the Isle of Man. A bunch of them competed in the Jersey open in the late Summer this year.

The IGRF NASRPC Irish open meeting includes pistol shooting - quite a few Gallery Rifle shooters travel over to that event in the middle of July. Let me know if you want details - or check out the Galleryrifle website

If you want to shoot 1500 via the WA 1500 let me know or look them up. They are shooting open competitions in Germany, Austria, Ireland, N Ireland and Norway on a regular basis.

UK FAC and European Firearms Pass (EFP). Just contact your local constabulary for an EFP.

Look at the Jersey Pistol Club.

Excellent facilities, excellent people and excellent surroundings.
