Everything counts towards the 15Kgs, powder, primers, loaded rounds, .22LR stuff and even shotgun cartridges, blanks and black powder. DO NOT keep it in a steel container, I have a large wooden compartmented powder locker and JD Reloading has some very nice ones listed up to (I think) 15 tubs.

Powder will come in typically 3kg, 1Kg or 1Lb tubs so you need to potentially hold 30 tubs which gives you some room for primers however as already discussed this is a huge amount of rounds to put down range for the average shooter. I would suggest 10Kgs is going to see you through the next year and probably more.

Thanks for the info, very helpful. Why not just keep it in the plastic tubs it comes in? BTW how big is a 3KG tub? I can't get any sense of scale on the pictures I've found and I presume it needs to be kept in a safe doesn't it?

...and do bear inind that ALL ammo originates in the good old US of A !

The closing of the lead smelter there will be nothing of catastrophic on a global scale.

I predict a complete lack of any small arms ammunition before the end of 2013

If you don't think the closing of the primary smelter will be an issue, what makes you think small calibre ammo will be impossible to get starting this month?

OK thanks, that makes life easier in some respects. I appreciate it's not an explosive just a propellant, but is there any need to keep it under lock and key in some fashion?

I keep powders (about 12Kg) both under and on top of the reloading bench, primers are kept separately in an ammo safe (not airtight). FEO was round a week or so ago and had no problem with it at all.
