Re: Hawke scopes, are they any good?
The scopes I have used in the past have been, S&B, Hensoldt, & Leupold, although I have tried Nightforce.
They are all very, very nice, but at the moment even Leupold is out of my price range.
At the moment I think Bushnell Elite & Vortex PST are the front runners, now I just need to make an informed choice.

Vortex are well worth a look

Re: Hawke scopes, are they any good?
What are the Vortex reticules like?
My preferred reticule is Mil dots, but that is only because I know how to use them & I am comfortable with them.
But that is not to say, I'm not prepared to learn how to use other reticules, just never needed to in the past.

So get competing and then you can justify the cost - simples.Demonic69 wrote: I could never justify the cost of a leupold et al unless I was seriously competing
Why buy a cheap scope that will limit your capabilities? With the cost of ammo these days you dont want to be blatting it down range in the general direction of a fuzzy black circle.

Quite agree, it looks like the general concensus is Vortex PST seems like a good bet, for the money.Individual wrote:So get competing and then you can justify the cost - simples.Demonic69 wrote: I could never justify the cost of a leupold et al unless I was seriously competing

I think I'd rather spend a little more and get something fairly decent.
Re: Hawke scopes, are they any good?
If you are looking at a Bushnell Elite, get that over a Hawke.

Re: Hawke scopes, are they any good?
Maybe you should look around for a second hand Leupold (cough), there are few about and you get Leupold's lifetime guarantee.
A couple of old sayings, spend the cash on the glass and the change on the rifle, buy expensive once and cry once, buy cheap and cry twice. A good scope will last your shooting lifetime and still have residual value at the end.

+1 for a Vortex PST. Can't beat it for the money, I have one on my .223 AR.
Re: Hawke scopes, are they any good?
Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 mildot on my LTR
Mate has one on his SSG
Nice scopes...almost as good optically as Leupolds...the othe Elites ARE equal to some Leupolds
....don't believe the hype.
Hawke scopes. Good? Compared to what?
