In your choice of calibres, just buy a Mosin M44.

Good fun, reasonably accurate, very reliable, cheap surplus ammo and an absolute 'blast' to shoot. When you run out of ammo and the chips are down just extend the bayonet and throw it like a spear.

Nothing else comes close on a bang for bucks basis.

Yes they are great value for money, C&g has them for only £150!, I would prefer the M38 without the bayonet but I'll see what I can find, the Colombian K98 above also sounds a nice deal, again there are so many varieties of K98 to choose from, I do like the look of the Persian K98 though, if I can find one that would be high on my list.

Info on Mosin M38's Simply Firearms in Lancashire has several rifles for £225 each and £15 for RFD shipping.

Give Ryton Arms in retford a call, they had a couple of M38s tucked away proofed and ready to go in summer, these are cherry picked for preservation in shooting condition - the rest get deact. My 1945 M44 is as new because of this.

What about a Polish M44? The bayonet makes no difference and a Radom made Mosin Nagant is a thing of beauty. £250 would get you a cracker (I can point you in the right direction if you want).

If it's very clean I might indeed be interested.
