All begging to have nice benign cast boolits shot through them.

Get a mould and get casting, if Alpha1 can manage it it has to be a dawdle.

I have just spent the afternoon loading cast for the mas36 and some .308 loads for a newbie to try. One thing I do find fiddly is seating the short stubby flat nosed boolits with the Lee seater die some times the boolits don't easily go through the hole and engage with the seater stem I am inclined to attempt to open up some of the old dies I have laid about to make it easier to seat them. We will see.
Any way I am ready to rock and roll just need a range.

Use the 303 seater for 308, 8mm seater for 303, there is always a way.

Also I use hot glue to make the seater stems fit the boolit nose, epoxy works a well as does a bit of kitchen foil.

No problem at all seating the 115g soupcan with my .308 Lee seating die. Don't know if it makes a difference but mines set to seat only with no crimp, I use a factory crimp die after it.

The boolit is flat nosed not pointed I just turned the seating stem around. I normally use gas checks on my cast loads these are not gas checked is that OK. Who makes moulds for these light boolits in .311/.312.
I have moulds for 150grain .312. I have experience with cast boolits but not with these kind of loads. Shooting light boolits with pistol powders is a whole new ball game to me.
I would normally shoot cast loads at 100/200 yards.

I used my first ever custom made spud for the .303 loads it tapers from .311 to .312. The threads were screw cut to fit in the Lyman M die. It works a treat. The next one will be made to fit the Lee neck expander then you don't have to faf about screw cutting threads. What a fascinating hobby this reloading lark is never a dull moment all ways some thing to keep you busy.

This is a good light boolit, from a high quality mould. Plain base design too so no gas check.

Only one in stock, I'd snap it up if I were you.

Lee also do a soupcan design 2 cavity, but you run a high risk of getting an unusable mould.

No gas checks should be fine but only firing them through your rifle will tell you.

No the spud was made from scratch it screws into a lyman M die.

The one at the top is the original lyman expander the one underneath is a first stab to see how difficult they are to make. It tapers from .312 to .314 it works very well. A exact copy of the Lyman is not out of the question. I need a lathe :shakeshout: :shakeshout:

I much prefer the step as to the taper as the step helps seat the boolit square.
