Re: moving into rented house attaching safe to wall etc

Not quite sure where this desire to tell the landlord, letting agents and all & sundry that you plan to drill some holes for the purposes of fitting a gunsafe comes from exactly...to me it becomes less safe the more people know something is there!
The route I ALWAYS take - check the wording of the lease - and comply with that. If the lease says you can fit shelves, redecorate & the like as long as the property is made good or the changes are to a standard agreed to - then adding a cabinet is not an issue and not one to be broadcast to office workers who have no reason to be so informed.
Have lived mainly in rented property & more recently housing association property for the last couple of decades....with some wide experience of rented properties in the years before Uni....in all that time I can NAME 2 good landlords; the majority of landlords displayed borderline criminal behaviour - so THEY are the last members of society I'd let know about my hobby/collection.
YOUR paying the rent entitles you to FREE & UNHINDERED ENJOYMENT of the property - that means while you live in it it is your house/flat to be used for your normal daily life
