Think I prefer the atmosphere & facilities of the Surrey, Old Sergeants mess, The NLRC, LMRA & a few others.

The cost of maintaining the Lord Roberts Centre are so high that the facility HAS to let the facilities out to cover the annual upkeep. Bad planning in the beginning but too late to back out now!
As for the NRA ranges, I do the round trip of 600 miles at least every 2 months and more if I can get the funds together. I just love shooting there.

Me and my 2 boys first got hooked on shooting when we went to our first open day back in 2009, I'm lucky that I live 10 mins from Bisley, when we went to our first phoenix meeting and looked around all the trade in the pavilion we were like pigs in $hit !
I agree that the facilities leave a lot to be desired but there are improvements going on. We went to the open day just gone but only went to see what's occuring, not to shoot.

I was quite nervous about going to Bisley first time and it can still be a bit daunting.

this weekend was my second Bisley open day (first one was last September). Very enjoyable. Brought the brother in law who is a shooter in Ireland; he's talking about coming over for the September 2013 open day.

my youngest boy is doing the NRA Young Marksman Club activity in the May school holidays. He did one session with them last year plus the 2 open days. This will be our first attempt at stopping over at Bisley and trying some of the accommodation.

Still a lot to learn to make full use of Bisley.

Guilty as charged, that may have been me... about 3.30/4-ish I didn't find the sighting too bad just the wind. If I'd had another five shots I'd got the hang of it.

Yep,
Buffeting at 300 was a bit tricky but it had eased a bit for the 500. I have a sneeky suspiscion that I may have had a possible at 500 (plot sheets are at Bisley). Pretty sure that there several including one shot with a .223 target rifle by a certain Scottish Major.

Marshmallow's wasn't me then... I did fancy another go, but thought it unfair given there was a queue. I'll possibly be there next Saturday when I look at joining the Sporting Club.

Yes i shot 300 yards on century range only got one v ball with my last shot [AR15] but what a great experience .
We started at Stickledown first time i had shot at a 1000 yards rounds 1 & 2 a bit low just off the paper but got 3 on so very happy it would have been better if i could have had a few more rounds i feel i would have relaxed a bit more.

We then moved on to the running deer great fun i have done a lot of clay shooting so felt at home
then black powder pistols again would have been nice to spend more time shooting but only had one go
as lots of people wanting to shoot.
Then over to century shot 5 rounds with the AR and then the long drive home great experience and for me a very special day and yes i do hope to go back and have some more Bisley shooting a big thank you to all who made it possible tongueout
