Dave hit the prices on the head for G98 but have seen them for £1200 as well.
There is a newer anniversary version available which I think only 100 was made 'I might be wrong on quantity' but there's no age in them. Really nice rifle though and managed to handle one at a Bisley show last year. That was I think £1200

I've seen the anniversary one, only thing for me is that it's a new gun, I like the history of the originals. The K31 is already in the cabinet, a lovely gun and something I enjoy shooting. the '03 springfield is high on the list i'd say, its just a case of finding one!

I do know of one of the new anniversary G98's, as far as I know it still remains unfired and even had the test target with it last time I saw it. Downside is the price, it was also GBP1200 last time and has probably gone up since.
A good looking rifle.

We think you need to add something in 6.5x55 Swedish to the arsenal: either a Swedish M96 Mauser or Noggin Krag Jorgensen. Ideally, both.

Kirk Emmerich (spelling?) has several Springfields for sale.
Personally I'd recommend a MAS 36, great rifles

He looks to have some nice '03's! I'd better start saving! Although the Krag in 6.5 is a good shout or .30-06
Unfortunately I'm not a fan on the mas36, i found its a bit clunky when I had a go with one. there's some good shouts here though guys!

1905 or 1910 Ross straight pull
Type 38 or Type 99 Arisaka
The M98 Mauser gets all the glory, but the 91, 95, and 96 models are fine and underappreciated rifles.

Arisaka sounds good, are there many about?

Not seen or heard of many here in the UK, By sword & musket had an 38 for sale now reserved/sold. Others seen on Gunstar are deactivated.
Alot more in the US it would seem.

I guess a lot were brought back by the Marines? Also I beleive if you find an early one it's worth a fortune and the later war production ones can be a bit ropey!
