My eye sight started to deteriorate when I hit the fifties so I feel that wasnt too bad.
Now just hit 58 and I am really struggling to see the foresight on my full bore rifles.
The target is ok-ish as is the rear sight.
The lighting and contrast around the target makes a big difference too as to what I can see.
What recommendations would you spec wearers make?
Cheers,
Tony
I had a similar problem as I got older. A friend in the USA recommended that I try out the EyePal shooting aid.
I was astounded how much difference it made, for the first time in years, I was able to see the rear sight, fore sight AND target clearly! It took 30 years off my eye sight.
All it is, is a simple black circle made of soft plastic with a precision hole in the middle that you just stick on to your shooting plain lens glasses. It just takes a bit of trial and error to get it into the correct position on the lens. You can peel them off and put them onto different glasses if you want.
They come in pairs, so you can fit out 2 pairs of glasses.
I have just ordered some for a couple of shooting buddies who tried mine out and were impressed.
Log on to http://www.eyepalUSA.com and check them out.
They cost $29-95 plus shipping per set and you can pay via Pay Pal.
Like all good ideas, they are simple but very effective.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
I will order (being tight!) the eyepal device and give them a go.
Failing that the place in Newbury sounds good.

Tony

Lyman do a similar product available in the Uk for around £17.

For years I've used black electricians tape with a suitable sized hole punched in it stuck to a pair of shooting glasses, works just as good at no cost.

Just browsing and found this, which is what ukrifleman mentioned:

I notice that it may not be so effective in indoor ranges, presumably due to low light?

Or I could sell you some "special" electricians black tape (which is what I shall end up with) for just £15.. :run:
