We have one of those. It doesn't say "Lee Enfield " on it...

The idea appeals to us mainly 'cos we are a Yorkshire Badger : rounds are both rimmed, of similar power and dimensions, but the Russian round is about 28 pence a pop and readily availabubble...

Just the feeding and chambering to sort then. We're sure one of you large brained kreechers must have that sorted...

Is it really worth it?

New barrel, possibly modify the bolt due to the larger rim and have you checked that the 7.62x54R will fit in and feed from a SMLE magazine?

No, we don't have a dud 7.62x54R to play with...

Think of the savings ooman ! Ten shillings a shot !

And there's always the possibility of using that ingenious magazine cut off device for single shot loading ...
