I assume that you are only entitled to purchase a 22 target pistol rather go to Lantac and buy a Glock 17?
Yes, their qualification scores were shot in this country with air pistol. Have to admit i don't recall the entire conversation, but it was explained to me that a qualifying score shot with a rimfire pistol abroad, as long as it was during an event recognised by the selection panel, was acceptable as well.

The father was given authority to acquire two 22 rimfire pistols. He did tell me there are a very small number of Section 5 authorities granted for 32 calibre pistols, but I'm not sure if Team GB actually had any competitors in that event.

What are the legitimate reasons behind the thinking about .22LR Pistols and their continued prohibition. I can own .22LR rifles and semi-auto's, some of the latter having 30 round Mags available so the potential of these if I go nuts and on the rampage is likely to be quite dramatic. Why then cannot I have, for Club use in any standard manufacturer's made Pistol in .22LR calibre with a limited MV round in a maximum 10 round mag for up to 50m ranges?

Is it because someone, somewhere perceives I can hide a Pistol under my jumper, well I can hide a rifle under my jacket which is far more effective at up to 100m? The continued prohibition on legitimate .22LR Pistol ownership under S1 has no basis in logic or common sense and the only reason we cannot have them back is to satisfy the position of weak Government of all colours.

Woah, woah, woah there, are you trying to suggest that UK firearms legislation has no basis in logic, reason or practical application?? :o

+1

I can't see the logic behind it either, so many people in Government and the shooting community have come out and said that the pistol ban in it's entirety was pointless, so why not give us a bit back and let us at least have .22? Ridiculous that I can go out and buy a .50 and not a little pea shooter of a hand gun. Surely if concealability is the issue, then why are we still allowed muzzle loaders? I could at least get 6 shots off before the cavalry arrive!
