Its good to know they are not all that expensive, it's the first Finnish Mosin that I've seen for sale, so I'm ignorant to even a ballpark figure for one

Minty M27 for 250 Euro, Unmarked Hungarian 91/30 for 225 or a M38 for 139 Euro anyone?

Ok so the 91/30 will have gone past its expiry date by tomorrow morning without any bids however they are out there if you know where to look. It is a dark art but they are out there (even in the UK).

The M39 mentioned previously is seriously expensive for a rifle that looks sanded and varnished (it's been there for a few weeks).

I bid on and won a 1943 Sako M39 in a dark tiger striped stock only a couple of days ago for 225 Euros.

No catches really. Check out Egun.de but avoid anything marked as Deko (deact).

Sadly it will cost an additional £180 or so to import.

By and large the earlier (pre WWII) Mosins are better, I believe. During the war they became somewhat more "agricultural" shall we say, and I don't think that the steel was necessarily of as good a quality.

Only difference between a pre war and wartime production was exterior finish.
Why finely machine and polish the outside, when a rough cut is all that is needed while bombs are falling throught the roof? It does not make them shoot any better. It the part is important for operatation, it is properly machined and fitted.

Great rifle that you will never break.
They are accurate if they have a good muzzle, and fit the stock properly.
Matching number bolt is not a problem, but also not very common.
Out of the hundreds that have passed through my hands, I have never found a Mosin Nagant with bad headspacing, unlike every Enfield I have ever seen.
Triggers are easy to smooth and lighten.
With the right load they are also capable of sub MOA groupings.

OK got some more information on the Mosin Nagant .

The bore is clean and shiny with strong rifling and the beech stock is in a clean condition but varnished.
Both the rifle and bolt have matching numbers and the breech at least was made in the Izhevsk Ordnance Factory in 1927 which I think makes it originally an M91.
However it has obviously been arsenal refurbished as the bayonet has the same number as the rifle and bolt but is a later type used on the M91/30 as is the rear sight. Also the butt and forend stock parts have late or post WWII sling slots and appear to be made up of a M38/M44 type carbine butt stock (the indicator here is the little teardrop shaped finger grove adjacent to the rear barrel band) and a later M91/30 forend. Possible the hand guard is the same but I can’t be sure of this yet as my pictures don’t show the forend rivets.
I think all this makes it what is known as an “ex-dragoon”

Yes I would say an ex dragoon, which from your pictures seems to be in good condition. I have a 1925 Tula ex dragoon with post WW2 woodwork, yet you will find late 91/30's with pre war wood, depends on what was fitted at refurb. Butt stock and lower forend are one long piece of wood so no M38/M44 wood used would be too short (does not seperate at the barrel band) You do get some 91/30's with matching numbered bayonets both mine have them, this is a +.

You could do a lot worse than buying that rifle. A ton of history and great stamps on the barrel shank.

Me as well, Finnish M39's are NOT common over here and are deemed the best mosin nagant by many. But for that money nah

As for oldies, I have a very early Russian M91 Long Dated 1896 Tula. This is a finn capture, been backbored by them , and the typical wood scew added after the front band to float the barrel. Clever people the Finns.

Got this gun for just over a full tank of diesel.

M27 for E250 , is it still going, id be interested ?
