Hi,

I use both a tumbler and a ultrasonic cleaner. The ultrasonic cleaner does a good job at cleaning primer pockets (that the tumbler does not) and also carbon residues from the inside etc.

I bought mine from MAPLIN: http://www.maplin.co.uk/professional-ul ... 0-h-261248
I have compared it to the one LYMAN sells and it is exactly the same one!!! the only different being that the tray on the LYMAN comes with handles to lift it.

I have tried some cleaning liquids and at the moment I prefer the one that LYMAN does. Expensive but works OK and you don't have to worry about neutralizing acids, affecting the metal etc.
I use de-ionized water (top up car batteries) that I get from Haldfords.
I have also noticed that too much water is not good: just cover your cases and a little bit more. And also the more cases you put it the longer it might take.
Then I rinse with tap water (i used to use also de-ionized water but not any more) and put them to dry over a heater on the kitchen. Yes, my wife loves that!!! heheheh
Then I tumble.
I re-use the liquid many times until it's to dirty or I notice I need for time for cleaning them.

On the internet you will find loads of info, you can start with this guy: http://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.html

I hope it helps!

Which is the one I bought from them last year and have just sent back as it smells of burning and doesn't work!, was only used a few times until I got my STM stainless media tumbler.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Not brilliant I'll grant you, but I've had one of those for a couple of years and it does at least work. Just not fantastically well!

Hi,
mine, from MAPLIN works OK and sometimes I do long sessions with it... I might have it working for a couple of hours or more and no problem till now.

Regards,
Felipe.

ah!
I forgot to say: Another thing I do with the ultrasonic cleaner: I have a Ruger 10/.22 and those 10 rounds magazines are difficult to clean inside. Well...no more: I use the ultrasonic cleaner to get them as clean as new. I do not do it every time I clean the gun, but from time to time. The only thing I have noticed is that in a very old magazine the metal at the top has discoloured a little bit. I can;t remember if I left it into the liquid for longer or what happened, but it does not affect the functioning at all.

Regards.
