I read on another forum somewhere that you could get upto 6 extra cylinders for doing Practical Pistol because they often run a course of fire of 4-6 stages of 6 targets but I would need to look into that a bit more to findout if this is true, although 6 extra cylinders would cost £740 for the armscor.

Spare Cylinders
Members considered an issue that has arisen with regard to muzzle loading
revolvers and variations to possess spare cylinders for courses of fire that the
National Rifle Association have now approved, which require 6 or 7 spare
cylinders to shoot within the specified time frame.

13.69 Component parts of firearms are also subject to certificate control, and may be authorised if a shooter needs replacement or interchangeable parts. Spare cylinders for muzzle-loading revolvers are not used in national target shooting disciplines and should not normally be authorised. It should be noted, however, that some cased sets, both
antique and modern reproductions, will contain a spare cylinder, or cylinders, and these may be properly included on certificate for both possession and use.

It is guidance not law however.

True, but that is from 2002. The FLEWG minutes I quoted are from 2011 with an apparent endorsement from the NRA with regards to the requirement for multiple cylinders for ML pistol matches.

As for the circular - it is just that and FLMs do not have to take it in to account, if you are a member of a club which does not actively shoot such a course of fire you are going to be on an uphill struggle.

They are not over ruling anything - it is guidance not law. It is their interpretation as well as your case for having them - if you can justify it then you will get them, if you put down for 6/7 because you want them - then go figure!!

Contacted the Firearms Dept to enquire on turnaround time for variations, seems to be the same timescale for 1 for 1 or extra's, they are only just starting to look at October applications at the moment, sign01 (if only i lived in Wiltshire) so i may as well wait till after the shooting show and then put in a full variation rather than 1 for 1 as they said i need to send my current license in with the application.
