Been Googling, this appears to clear it up -

Apologies for any confusion, seems to be misunderstood by shooters & FEO alike.

So, common sense approach, any fac holder can use it in a club environment?

No it does not. Do a search on either this site or the guntrader website as this very matter has been debated several times and other people have explained it far better than I ever can.
In simple terms though the essence of the matter is:
1. Clubs cannot possess LBRs or LBPs (long barreled revolvers or long barreled pistols) on the club's firearms certificate.
2. Because they cannot be held on a club firearms certificate then club members cannot use them under the exemptions allowed for Home Office approved clubs. That includes LBRs belonging to other club members also.
If things have changed as a result of court cases involving the Sportsmans Association in the last year or so please correct me but I am sure that Iain from the NRA will be along at some time and state the current situation. The link given is 4 years ago.

I forgot to mention the same applies for section 1 shotguns also.

I believe that one club did sucessfully appeal the decision not to be granted an LBR on the club certificate for members use. However, I also believe that the judge in this case specifically decreed that his decsision was purely on the merits of the case he heard and was not a precedent. He further suggested that the Home Office look at their regs concerning the status of LBR's etc.
That hasn't happened yet, I further believe.
