I dunno, seems to me he's selling it as a training scope, which would imply .22...
Whats your beef?Manufactured for Winchester by Carolyn Scopes of New York between 1937 - 1941 - during WW2 two thousand of these scopes were supplied to Great Britain for sniper training and Home Guard guerilla warfare training duties in the event of an invasion - this is probably one of those supplied - although it has no War Department marking. Fantastic for a rook rifle or any fairly low recoil period small bore rifle or black powder rifle.

No marking means NOT War Dept. issue
A very very common Winchester scope from pre-war Winchester .22 rifles
