Absolute pish

#1 Post by Dave 101 »

Dont some people talk some rubbish , I dont know how he has the gall to try and sell a scope in that condition as if it were something fantastic , see here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Winchester-Br ... 23214c3c62

Hes selling a late 1940s .22 scope and describing it as a military sniper scope of WWII vintage , confusing it with the Winchester A5 worth hundreds of £s , what a load of BS .

I dunno, seems to me he's selling it as a training scope, which would imply .22...
Manufactured for Winchester by Carolyn Scopes of New York between 1937 - 1941 - during WW2 two thousand of these scopes were supplied to Great Britain for sniper training and Home Guard guerilla warfare training duties in the event of an invasion - this is probably one of those supplied - although it has no War Department marking. Fantastic for a rook rifle or any fairly low recoil period small bore rifle or black powder rifle.
Whats your beef?

The last line of my OP , its basicly missrepresentation , because what he has isnt what he is implying .

No marking means NOT War Dept. issue

A very very common Winchester scope from pre-war Winchester .22 rifles

Several listed in the 1937 Parker-Hale catalogue.

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
