Oh I think there's a huge body of evidence, many bodies indeed in fact, to show that lead bullets can be extremely fatal indeed...

Fatal is what they do, oomans. It says so on the tin...

For god's sake don't start on this one. You're only doing the antis' job for them by lending them more ammunition (literally).

I already have to use non-lead bullets when stalking over an RSPB reserve. I've tried them all and none match the lead alternatives. Regardless of the media hype and stupid claims. The best by far are Hornady GMXs but the price, even reloading will make a grown man cry.

I think you should bear in mind that life itself is fatal.*

err, I'm not much of a geologist etc but just WHERE did lead come from oringinally...it sure as heck don't grow on trees does it.

:cool2:

By firing off all those lead rounds were ARE doing our bit for the planet..we are sending back a metal we dug OUT of it in the first place..If it happens occasionally to be lodged in the carcass of someone who deserves it then fine, we are still enriching the soil......

I really don't care about shooting lead outdoors, it's entirely natural and belongs in the ground. What I'm not so keen on is ingesting after shooting it indoors for a couple of hours. Surely jacketed or plated is the way to go isn't it?

Tears up the curtains on indoor ranges, I believe.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

The inhaled lead risk on indoor ranges mainly comes from primers not the boolits/bullets. I believe that lead styphnate is the constituent but stand to be corrected on that.

Good ventilation and a particulate mask reduces the risk substantially.

You should always wash your hands when coming of the range, ingestion of lead dust is a greater risk than inhalation.

Lead free bullets/boolits is an oxymoron.

If I wasn't anti banning I'd ban people who advocate banning.

Which is why I'm trying to find a supplier of lead free primers as I don't fancy donning an NBC suit before shooting :o

Do you mean shot, not bullets? - Lead bullets present very little danger to birds; they are the wrong shape and weight for ingestion - where as some sizes of shot are a danger (especially to water-foul), and from what I understand, cause more problems in the way of blockages (just the same as other types of litter) than by toxicity...
