Sorry to hear that Karen - if they keep getting rid of the "good ones" how on earth do they expect to survive?

Apologies Karen I was under the impression that you were still involved with the NRA in some capacity.

Just for clarity in the thread in case it gets lost due to some of the posts being off topic.

This complaint is about recent "improvements" which the NRA has recently spent money on so the argument of lack of funds doesn't apply in this specific case.

It is also about accountability and who was responsible for signing the job of as fit for purpose and how are they being held responsible for such a poor job?

If you use the male khazi at the back of century, Im to blame for getting the flush working. Not that Im even a member, let alone employed by the nra - the handle had come adrift from the mechanism and so i spent five minutes screwing it back on.

It says it all when visitors feel driven to carry out basic maintenance in the knowledge that it won't get done otherwise.

I value my health too much to use the toilets on any of the ranges, they are nothing short of disgusting. They need jet washing from top to bottom and then re painting and keeping clean. It is nothing but the basics which I feel the NRA are missing the trick over.

Spend a fortune on restoring the clock tower by all means but how about getting the basics right first.

I for one am grateful for being a member of a Bisley Club that has first class facilities so I don't have to use the squalor that they provide for us.

"Membership static? If so, I think it would be wrong to then hit that loyal membership with an increase in fees. But is that not a British disease? Times are tough, charge more. Numbers fall, charge more again to make up for it. Numbers fall further, it all goes down the pan....."

Sim...the very point I was making.....the trouble with slashing the fees is that revenue decreases at a sharp rate whilst the long term objective of more members is just that, long term.

The NRA are like a lot businesses, strapped for cash and unable to improve or expand, the cost of borrowing is astronomic, despite whatever the Bank Rate might be, and really the NRA are in the position of not being able to move forward whilst gradually moving backwards.

The latest changes have been very hard on some people and I suspect will have very little effect on the trading state of the NRA as a whole, it is mearly a holding position.

I have noticed since the changes that the invoicing to my Club for range fees has gone backwards, I am now getting invoices in July for shoots held in May, whereas last year the invoices came in within 2 weeks of the date of range use. A small matter but sadly indicitive of the way things were 4 or 5 years ago.

T/M, and that is the conundrum! Increase fees really in the hope that those present take it on the chin and cough up, or, slash fees in the hope of massively increased membership and usage.....

It really may be crunch time for the NRA and Bisley as a venue. The once in a lifetime injection from the Olympics was missed, for whatever reason. We're in the middle of quite a biting recession and to be brutally frank, one piece of legislation could kill our sport overnight!

As I said, I'm not an NRA member. I shoot there a couple of times a year at Phoenix and perhaps once with my affiliated club when we go for a "pilgrimage"..... But, I don't want to see Bisley consigned to the history books. How on earth did it get to this stage?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
