TR140 being a tad slower than N140 (but faster than N150) can fill the case better. Since moving to TR140 I have been able to get higher velocities at lower pressures than N140.(My loads have been to the proof house) In both .308 and .303 i have seen group sizes reduce, in the case of .303 a rifle that was shooting 2moa groups at 600yds is now shooting under 1moa out to 1000yds. So is TR140 a replacement for N140? in my opinion yes. Its also cheaper and I buy it in 2.5 Kgs at a time so make a bigger saving. So much so, that the only powder that i will use for .308 and .303 is TR140. Bye Bye Vit N140.

Can I ask who sells it in 2.5Kg size?, I got 5x1Kg and am going through it quite rapidly!

Re: TR140 Ignition woes
Problem solved! I loaded up some more test loads using the same load of 38g of TR140 behind a 198g .323 dia FMJBT bullet but this time I used Federal mag primers; 38g of TR140 occupies about 2/3rds of the case capacity, so there shouldn't be the case of the charge leaving the flash hole exposed.
Every round performed perfectly with a clean burn. The load is on the mild side, indicated by the primers backing out a little, but accurate and with clean brass.
There is scope for increasing the performance of the round (8mm Lebel) but as the carbine is over a 100 years old and the round performs well, I don't see the need.
I was able to knock down fig 11's at 300 yards with no problem today.
TR140 powder is Swiss made not Finnish.
