In praise of my HW 77

#1 Post by Jenks »

I have a very old HW77 .22 air rifle. I bought it second-hand at least twenty years ago. I can't remember what I paid for it, I think it might have been £50. It just goes on and on I shoot lots of pigeons with it in the kiddies swing park adjacent to my house, (with permission of course.) They crap all over the swings, slide etc. I have just shot one from my bedroom window. It fell stone dead, I paced it out at fifty five Paces. There is an old boy who lives a couple of doors down from me who loves to eat them, he will take all I can get. He gets plenty. The rifle loves Wasp No: 2 5.6mm (.22) pellets.

My favourite air rifle is my .177" Lincoln Jefferies, UK made in 1903.

Not quiet Chuck.

One of the many reasons I am so fond of that rifle is that 1903 was the year of my fathers birth.

Chuck..

Back in the late 50s I used to knock around on a farm in Leicestershire. The farmer had a BSA Airsporter .22 He used to let me use it to shoot Sparrows around his granary it was a bit heavy for me but I must have shot hundreds, cracking rifle.

Dromia..

Thanks for the picture. I have never seen one but it looks almost exactly as I thought it would. :good: how does it shoot? Range/accuracy etc.
