Looking at a rifle scope for general shooting and some Target shooting up to 600 yds hopefully, any suggestions on what scope you would like/prefer ?

I would also need mounts to go with it but don't have a rifle yet so can't give any more info than that.

I'd suggest going for a second paw Pecar 6x42

I love my Sightron SIII but you may find them a little expensive, give Nikon a look over.
Best avoid the eBay specials although you may hear that many quality scopes come from China and that some of the cheaper ones are just re branded under a lesser known name.
You could get lucky...

Look for warranties, many of the better companies offer life time warranties, Leupold for one offer a any person (ie you don't need to be the purchaser with the receipt) lifetime warranty. It is worth investing in your scope, you can take it from rifle to rifle as you move on and will make swapping guns a little easier on the pocket.

I have been looking at the leupold and nightforce, I have had cheap scope on air rifles and found them poor so I would be going for something which is a better quality, I did also look at a nice swaroski 5-30x 50 but its 2k+ which is a bit pricey but nice lol

Do not be afraid to look at second hand glass, you can make some very good savings and as long as you look at the better quality products they should be fine. My PMII was S/H and is still perfect all these years later, and is worth a lot more now than I paid for it :good:

my 2 penneth  I have a 6x42 S&B which is superb, but lacks a bit of mag for target use such as McQueens, so I bought one of Brian Fox's cheap scopes for target use at Bisley etc,and it rocks! my AUG has a Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40 with ballistic ret that works very well indeed, and is surprisingly clear, the most expensive of these was the S&B but all of them work very well for what they were bought for, no need to spend mega bucks for 600yrd work, just something with 12-24x mag and a reasonably clear view and repeatable settings, everything else is just "lipstick and mascara" tongueout

The leopold have a good magnification range and seem cheaper, I also had a bushnell 6-18 I think on a air rifle and found it really good
