What Started You Shooting.
Hope this has not been discussed before.
Me, home made catapult, home made bow and arrows, air pistol then air rifle. Just seemed like a natural progression. On the local farm with the air gun one day, and an informal clay shoot was been set up in one of the fields, had a walk over - and as they say - the rest is history, hooked for life.

Re: What Started You Shooting.
No idea really. No one in my family is a shooter or service man/woman.
I've always liked "guns" as a kid. You know; water-pistols, cap-guns (I think I was the last generation to have 'em), Nerf, dart-guns etc.
When I hit 15 I got a book, it was just a "coffee table" book, an illustrated encyclopaedia of firearms. I started reading it from cover to cover. Every now and then, well, actually, a lot of the time, terms and mechanisms would be discussed that I wouldn't understand. Thus, I had to get another book to explain what that term meant, and that new book lead to another term or mechanism, and so another book, and so on...
I hit 16 and decided to seek a gunclub, so I literally rang up directory enquires and asked for the nearest gunclub. The nearest one was one town over and it was an air-gun and .22 club. That started me shooting. After that I joined my current club at 17 and have been shooting full-bore ever since, and I'm 26 this week - though I don't shoot anywhere near as much as I like. It's a mixture of range-access and funds, i'm afraid.

Hmm.. Gat air pistols, .22 Air rifles, joined a small bore rifle club at 16, no idea why though. Then added shotguns into the equation and shot clays for several years, shot pistol for a bit then neighbour started full bore and I tagged long one day and here I am wtfwtf

Shooting seabirds in Greenland when I was 13-14 years old, no idea what kind of birds they were, one day out on the sea got handed a .22 and that was it
Shot them, plucked and cooked them, need quite a few for a meal.
So of course being on a small boat surrounded by icebergs shooting at flying birds, I did not hit many during my years up there, however I did hit an iceberg a few times which I was told is not a good idea when you are in a small boat

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
