As an RO I do not want to see mags in weapons unless on the firing point but where you load the mags is up to you ?

TackB, what is your view on say an SMLE which invariably is kept with it's magazine at all times other than cleaning.

Thanks for the Subs by the way :goodjob:

The smelly and other weapons with detachable mags that are not really designed to be removed repeatedly would be treated as a built in mag like a Mauser etc by me on the firing point ie show clear and put breech flag in or bag it up after witnessed clearing .

How did you get on with the subs? Wouldn't shoot for toffee in my rifle ! BUT my home loaded subs are fab fun and accurate!

Agreed on the show clear and bag it up. I have not tried the Subs yet as I did not have a .308 with me last weekend.

I dont see what the drama is with transporting loaded magazines.Provided they're not inserted into a gun nothing can happen.

Looks like Steve E knows of no good reason why one shouldn't carry loaded mags and just passed on we've-always-done-it-like-this thinking. Shame. I was hoping to be enlightened.

I say carry loaded mags if you want to.

As I said, two reasons not to:-

Weakened springs

Dirt.

But what do I know?

Heck, you can always come last and buy new magazines

:good:

I wish I had a quid for every magazine failure I have witnessed which lost a winning score.

Fill 'em up, keep em filled, give me an advantage.
