Which .22 lbp?

#1 Post by murphwiz »

So the lovely VQ is waaayy out of my price range, but the pro-tsc gsg and the buckmark are fairly affordable, what would you go for?

I love the look of the 1911 clone, but gsg reliability woes really put me of, the buckmark, I'm really warming to, some chap at phoenix as selling a rather nice carbon shrouded barrel version, cannot for the life of me remember who it was, he was in far left back corner of the marquee, any ideas anyone?

Any thoughts?

I was absolutely gutted when I saw the price of the VQ lbp....... £2000!!! :o I can't see him selling many of those! Well, definitely not to me anyway. That's three times the US retail price!

The GSG. Great fun, cracking looks, but the two in our club shoot appallingly! We've got lads with Browning lbp's and they, quite frankly, knock spots of the GSG's in the accuracy dept.

Then there are a couple that have the .22 Taurus. Considering in the pistol days you would never have dreamed of paying 600 quid for a Taurus, they seem to shoot the best out of all the long barrelled rimfire stuff that I've seen.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Definately think you should get a proper Iver Johnson 1911, I believe the next batch will be ready at Low Mill very shortly. A bit more £ than the GSG but in a different league.

Do you have one Dan? Someone told me that the mags aren't designed for the slide to lock back after the last round and that other standard 1911 parts don't fit the Low Mill as they do the GSG?

1200 base price! That's a lot of money before you start adding extras. And a strange choice of name. Iver Johnson always is associated with cheap defensive revolvers....... complete opposite of this.

That was probably Dromia (Pukka Bundhooks) selling mine for me :good:

I enjoyed the LBP but in the end it just wasn't getting used as it's not what I wanted, a replacement for my much missed S&W 29 .44Mag and Beretta 92F 9mm. Yes. I've looked at the Taurus .357 & .44 but they aren't in the same league when it comes to fit & finish compared to the S&W.

I held one of the 1911's yesterday, I was surprised at how well balanced it was and with the short spell I held it out in front, not too heavy to keep on target. Hopefully I can get a go with it at a later date but on looking at the prices there is no way I could spend £1200 on a base model, then you would need several magazines on top, a holster and belt rig.
I Will save my money for something else,

Sure the lmr 1911 is a fine gun, but at over £500 more than a brand new buckmark, I'd have to take the buckmark, they seem to hold there blue ok if asking prices are anything to go by, not heard anything bad about them, I'm after a fun plinker, rather than super accurate groups.
