Bent redding decapping pin

redding do a reduced size decap pin saw on another forum guy in US had a problem with his brass having smaller flash holes. Redding sent him smaller diameter pins.

As for 9mm reloads in LRR good factory crimp and load to COAL sammi spec, danger is head pushing back into case as bolt slams forward compressing load or head forced into lands both will increase pressure. I have not reloaded for mine but will start soon.

Don't want to sound like teaching people how to suck eggs but I am new to rifle reloading but not pistol reloading and both are different.

Reloading solutions did mention the smaller pin but he felt it was only for the small rifle primer cases used in 6mm.

To be honest at 20p each I am not that worried now, I could foresee that they might have been considerably more,

Will read up on reloading before I start, at the moment I am just playing with the brass, have yet to buy the other components,

It's pretty straightforward, I started off loading for the .222 rifle, .44mag & 9mm pistols back in 1979!!.

I use a Lee Factory crimp die set at +1 turn for the plated 9mm and + 1/2 turn for the .44 mag plated.

DM Toffee Wrapper is right, a good crimp is required.

I used to reload 9mm for my Browning using a Dillon.

I never experienced any difficulties, despite people saying how difficult 9mm is to load.

My advice would be to just take it slowly, and visually examine all your reloaded rounds.

Hell, I even reloaded Blaser aluminium cases when they said it was impossible just to prove them wrong!

I am not having a good time with this brass, thought I would have another go this evening and now have a case stuck in the die - so much for the titanium carbide dies not needing lubrication!

I have tried hitting it out with a rubber mallet and screw driver, it is hardly moving and I can see that the bottom may give way (oh err) before the case comes out.

Any ideas?

Suppose their is a special tool that I am going to have to buy? Will go look now.
I think I will give up on this brass I have never broken a decapping pin before or even got a case stuck until today,

Drill the case base out, tap it, screw a coarse bolt in and jack it out with a spacer. Alternatively bung it in the post and I will try and get it sent back same day.

Can you use a 8 or 9mm drill bit in stead of a screwdriver (blunt end to btm of case) they would spred the force over the entire base. also bit of wd 40 may help.

It is a tap, drill, spacer and bolt, yes I can supply them if you get stuck.

What's the headstamp on the brass?.

As suggested above (if you can get the de-capping pin out of the way) is an 8 or 8.5mm drill bit upside down, spray a tiny bit of WD40 in first and let it sit for 5 mins to see if it loosens it any.
