How many people own a Blaser R93 on the forum?
I can think of a couple, I just wondered how popular they are.

Re: How many people own a Blaser R93 on the forum?
Not sure how many on the forum stalk or control vermin besides shoot paper.
However, I can think of at least a dozen stalking contacts who own R93 or R8's..
If you want a trade contact, for an outlet for your guides PM me.
May I also suggest you consider making some Sauer 200 / 202 guides?

Thank you for the offer Ronin.
I had not thought of the 200/202 rifles Is the bolt release for the Sauer a catch on the back left of the action like the Accuracy International?

Re: How many people own a Blaser R93 on the forum?
I had a Blaser R93 Offroad stock/action that I used for stalking, mounting either a 6.5x55se match barrel or a .308win match barrel. Both these barrels were also used on my LRS2 stock.
I didn't care much for the trigger on the offroad .I thought that it had a little bit of 'creep' I had four chums who used the Off Road for stalking none of them thought the trigger a problem. I think I was influenced by the trigger on my LRS2 which I have to say I think is 'Perfect' By the way The Blaser LRS2 is featured in the TV series Homeland that is nearing the end of the story. I have only shot at 1200yards on about four occasions (Stickledown) all with the LRS2 and 6.5x55se barrel. I will never ever forget that the my first ever shot at that range was was a perfect V bull. A very happy day.

I seem to recall that both the 200 and 202 have bolt releases, which are activated by the trigger mech which drops a small pin allowing the bolt to be removed.

Thank you for that, I can see I need to get my hands on one to take a close look.

Back to the R93 cleaning rod guide, I was asked if I could build a guide for a Blaser R93 which set me thinking, I have handled the Blaser in the past and marvelled at just how slick the straight pull action is, and even dropped the barrel off just to confirm how easy it was however I was not thinking about cleaning rod guides at the time so this was an interesting ‘remote’ project. Remote because it has to be done by email, so grab some pictures, take a view on how best to build the guide, ask for the dimensions and build it.
Because the Blaser is straight pull there is not a lot to lock the guide in with, I had thought of building a guide that could be inserted and then rotated through 180 degrees so lock it in behind the rear of the action but there was insufficient clearance so it would have to be something that engaged only in the barrel itself.
Now one of my hangups is cleaning rod guides that flop around and fall out at the slightest provocation so this guide would need to be held snugly in place and also be perfectly aligned with the throat of the barrel so first thing was to build a dummy chamber to test the guide with.
The guide itself is manufactured from 6082 T6 aluminium and has two Nitrile O Rings to lock it in place, one in the chamber and one in the front section. I know I design and build these things but this is one of my favourite guides, it gives a very satisfying click as the second O ring engages and almost makes me want to go out and buy an R93. Finally I added a knurled section to aid removing the guide once cleaning has been completed.
This is the prototype.
