Well the indoor range I shoot on has an incident report form, I implemented it when chairman as part of our risk assessment.

I would think it would be good practice for any range to have such a thing and folly not to.

It is especially important in respect of any injury on the range.

We have a forum member who is an expert witness on all things firearms who may be able to suggest the right way forward, I just need to remember his name or hopefully he will pick this up.

BUT you would still like to think that a private club would have something in place in the event of a serious accident/dangerous occurrence like this.

I am a member of two private clubs who do not shoot on MOD ranges - I know full well they have procedures in place and are very good at paperwork!

Just got back from the IoM shooting pistols. Main 9 x19mm factory ammo in use was PPU 124g FMJ, have to say looking at the cases this round is very high pressure, primers are beyond flat some bulging out into a dome, indicative of either very soft primers or excesive pressure - these were being fired in good condition CZ75 SP01 and Glock 17.Although recoil was not noticably excessive, the condition of the primers did give me cause for concern.

The ammo may have been a contributing cause, hope this helps.

I shoot jacketed 115 grain Wolf 9mm in a CZ75 and have put hundreds and hundreds of rounds through it without ever missing a beat. The Wolf is berdan primed polymer coated case so reloading is not really an option however it is sub GBP10/100 so not really an issue.

Accuracy wise it is fine at 25-40m

The sgc lr is a rifle,is it not,I would expect the metal on the walls of the reciver to be somewhat thicker than that of a pistol......therefore,I would honestly have to hazzard a guess,and this is a guess and only my personall opinion....that the lr should really be able to handle any hot 9mm round (someone please correct me if you think this logic flawed)......that said,is it possible a case got in behind the receiver and a combination of suspect ammo and a foriegn body caused a breakage? I'm no expert on them,I don't own or shoot one,it will be good to get the proper official report when its reccieved by the owner/shooter.....I'm glad u are well all of us have one or two things break or go wrong on us over our shooting lives,and you make a good case for eye protection! Checked the TNT tracking info and it got to Shooting Supplies at 9:28 this morning. Not heard anything from them as yet.

Def. nothing in the action or a "hot" round, I assume PPU factory ammo is loaded to the usual specifications?. Best guess I can come up with is that the rear locking lug broke on shot 15 or when I fired the last shot (16) and as I was shooting from a sitting position with the front of the barrel shroud tube on a rest it kept the gun closed, when it fired it lifted the gun slightly and the upper pivoted forwards and downwards on the front pin lifting the back of the upper stopping the bolt retracting and pushing the gases out the back through the charge handle slot which is why I got a face full of gases. Had the front of the gun not been supported and hinged further opened I could have got about .5kg of steel bolt in the face :shock:

I don't know but I thought the AR-15 uppers & lowers were CNC machined from a solid block of Aluminium (billet)?, this is def. a casting as you can see from the photos of the break, again I don't know but it looks very thin in the section under the bolt tube (where it broke) at a guess I would say it was no more than 3mm at the bottom of the join onto the lug,
