Advice regarding case trimmer and case cleaner please.

Hi Watcher, I use a James Digital Ultrasonic Cleaner model 8050D-H which cost me about £100 or so.
But Ultrasonic cleaners are pretty generic and I have seen some yesterday at Brian Foxs' shop at Diggle but they have a different brand name, but it looks exactly like mine.
I can only clean about 50 cases or so in one go so it can be a bit of a pain as firstly I use a mixture of white vinegar/water/drop of washing up liquid to get rid of the muck, then use baking soda or Birchwood case cleaning stuff to neutralise then to finish distilled water.

Washing machine for cleaning cases - Too right. I use an old pillow slip cut in half. Use velcro to seal the edge. Bung in 100 .308 or .303 cases and wash when doing the dark clothes (Bold allinone works well). Put washed cases in a mesh bag and hang up in airing cupboard to dry.
For trimming cases on a budget the Lee case trimmer is tip top.

I am intrigued by the washing machine thing, can some post a picture of cases post a wash cycle? We have ours on probably three or four times a week so bunging cases in would be very conveniant.

Suddenly buying a new washing machine seems a whole lot more interesting. My man cave even has space and plumbing for one!

Doesn't detergent damage brass?
Any thoughts on how a washing machine could be modified to become a better dedicated case cleaner?

Hannam's have some reasonably priced Lyman stuff but I'm not sure which of the two or three options would be best.

The cheapest of the Lyman trimmers is the best - it uses your shell holder to hold the case rather than those useless 'clutch' things - like on the RCBS.

Yes, the Sinclair and Wilson are the 'Rolls Royce' but the cheapo Lyman does a perfectly good job.

Well, I'd usually recommend starting with Lee as it gets the job done and you can learn a lot with simple gear. But, you might expect to have a lot of case trimming to do with your .303 so I'd look for something with motive power...

Some handy information coming out of this thread. What we need is a new thread, 'The best cheap start to reloading' or similar. Anyone fancy kicking one off as i am sure we have/will all buy something that never came up to our expectations or later on went for a cheaper item that did a far better job.
