Hunters and hunting or as you refer to it as stalking gets negative press in the media these days in the U.S. and I can imagine in Europe as well. So an American hunter in my home state documented the presence of an endangered jaguar the sighting confirmed by Arizona Fish and Game two days ago. Thought perhaps you may find the story of interest.

Jaguar Documented While Stalking

Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Re: Jaguar Documented While Stalking
Will the animal be left in peace?
There have been reported sightings of 'large black cats' over here in the UK for many years however nothing conclusive has ever come of them.

Lets hope so. Arizona Fish and Game made a well publicized blunder a few years ago. An old Adult Jaguar that had been a resident of the state for its entire eight year life died while being fitted with a radio collar to track it's movements, too much sleepy drug I believe.ovenpaa wrote:Will the animal be left in peace?

The cats themselves are protected by law, why the hunter collected documentation for the state then left it alone, even the mountain lion (puma) that the hunter was after though he accidentally treed a Jaguar are protected. Mountain lion numbers are enough that some mountain lion tags are issued and the cats hunted, over populations lead to preying on livestock and too many deer. Mountain lion are the only animal in the state that can be hunted with dogs, there is no other way, without dogs a person could walk within feet of one on a trail and not know the cat was there.
The Jaguar are reclaiming their historic range in Arizona with protection and protection of habitat so it's exiting as a wildlife enthusiast to know something so majestic is out there someplace.
You mentioned reports of large black cats in the UK, perhaps feral panthers, descendants of released pets from years ago. Unless treed by trained dogs or captured on a hidden camera most large cats are never seen in North America, perhaps you have some reclusive cat out there as well.
