Has anyone come across any cost and/or ballistics comparisons anywhere ??

I have a cunning plan formulating for my next toy and I'm considering something different 8-) maybe a bolt action Grendel as opposed to the AR platform.

Any views??? :?:

Any views? Not polite ones! Ballistics? 6.5x47 - surprisingly good. 6.5 Grendel - not surprisingly - mediocre! If you want a 6.5, try the 260 Rem. Ballistics are not much better than the 6.5x47 but velocities in excess of 3000fps are so much more attainable. 6.5x47 brass is one of the expensive ones and it doesn't last that long.

What would be the point of using the Grendel if you weren't stuck with the AR platform? I honestly can't think of one.

As for the 300 Aacblackout - it appears to be the only cartridge more pointless than a Grendel - assuming we aren't thinking of killing someone with a fully supressed weapon at short range that is! Even their website says "plinking, hunting, home defence" as possible uses!

Cost-wise DM - a reamer will cost you about £150.

Thanks for the input, as always most enlightening :good:

Looks like I will be sticking with .223 for plinking, I know it makes sense but my mischief side wants to try something different,

DM,

Laurie Holland is doing a feature on the 300 Blackout for us in the December issue of Target Shooter.

Incidentally, Laurie has an AR10 (308) he wants to do something with - we are thinking about a re-barrel in 6.5 Creedmore - an interesting alternative to the 6.5x47 or the 260 Rem.

Vince,

I am reminded of a conversation that you had with me where by you suggested that I let those with money do the research, and then those of us with not so much money can follow up when we know what works..
