Remembrance Day.

If you can, wherever you are, please observe the silence at 11 O’clock today.

That was almost scary. I work in a modern open plan, three storey, office building with an open central 'well'. At eleven o'clock it seemed like some sort of black hole had sucked in all sound. It was quite an unsettling experience notwithstanding its sombre purpose.

Perhaps we don't realise how much background noise there is but not a sound was made.

We have just moved to a new building and the reception sent a mail out saying they would observing a 2 minute silence today at 11am. Well done gal I thought.

I went for a walk as people have my DDI and can forget.

Almost always quiet where we live however somehow it becomes even more quiet at 11/11/11. Guess there is background noise that I just do not notice.

Mine was jabbering away on the phone to his mate about Christmas of all things. Come the revolution he's going up against the wall...

Our FLO was due at 11. We observed the silence. She turned up and apologised for being late as she was observing the silence in her car around the corner. One appointment she is more than welcome to have been late for.

A woman in the department next to me was on the phone just before and the person she was speaking to wouldn't let her hang up, despite her protests. Anyway, the last thing she said before the fire bell sounds to mark the start of the silence was "Show some bloody respect!" and promptly put the phone down. :good: The d*ckhead then rang back immediately, so the silence was ruined by the phone ringing. :( Once the firebell rang again for the end of the silence her manager picked up her phone and amazingly gave the person a dressing down!! I thought standard Council practice would apply and he'd have to apologise to the moron! They'll probably get an official complaint but they got a round of applause from me and my team

Has anyone noticed the Google front page today? Just their standard page ... and a small Poppy dead centre.
