I'd be up for it, but not due to take the UKPSA safety course till early next year..... Allegedly, a 25 year old, UKPSA pistol competition licence won't suffice!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Being a current AFO is not enough according to the UKPSA.

I joined the UKPSA and completed the safety course as I mistakenly understood that it was necessary to take part in the Target Shotgun events at Bisley. Once I realised that anyone could turn up without having done the course I dropped my membership.

Harlow is half way round the M25 and to be honest the site did nothing for me, in fact I nearly wrote my car off accessing the place.
I have a little bit of a problem that a organisation called the United Kingdom Practical Shooting organisation concentrates so much on only one aspect of the sport. I would like to see them doing much more.
I do not have to be a member of any organisation to take part in Gallery Rifle events or F Class events, so I resent having to do a course and be a member of the UKPSA just to shoot shotgun. Personally I feel that to some degree they are keeping more people out of the sport than they are attracting in to it.
I am confident that having seen the turn out for the Target Shotgun and Shotgun Festival events held at Bisley (which is mostly ran by UKPSA members but not as UKPSA events), that if John gets a course of fire together, they will come.

DM

(I should mention that I have close links with 2 members who are reasonably high up in the UKPSA, they are my friends and they know how I feel)

DM,

I am aware of the issues you raise and the history which surrounds them.

I am also happy to discuss them with you over a pint or on a different topic thread, I would like to keep this topic to a 'who would if they could' theme.

I think we share the same friends?

As far as i'm aware competitors must have a competition licence for anything above a Level 1 match so i think it would have to be set at that level. This then throws up the problem that many people are not willing to travel far for a Lv1 match :cool2: And i'd have to include myself in that category

If however you could get something like a 3 gun match organised, you might have more takers :-P :good:

Either way i sincerely wish you the best of luck with it :) but like Mike i don't hold out much hope :squirrel:

Mark,

Leaving out the politics, once the NRA re-accepts practical style shooting as a recognised disciplne, there is no 'legal' reason why any cometition of any level of difficulty cannot be run without UKPSA approved courses of fire.

As I said to DM a few moments ago, I'm happy to discuss the mechanics and legalities over a beer or on a different theme. On this theme, I'm just after numbers so that I can say to my (soon to be ex) bosses - look, there's money in this.

Entirely selfish motives because I want to shoot practical here at Bisley where I plan to spend most of my retrirement.

The comet is coming.

Hi John

I would love to have a go at an NRA run PSG competition. Just have to wait on TVP renewing my FAC and granting a Sect1 Shotgun so that I can go and buy something suitable.

They had no problems with hosting IPSC World Shoot X, did they not?
