Re: Hornady Amax
You could, of course get a variation to use expanding ammunition as you have clearly got a good reason for wanting them.
Get BASC on the case as I cannot see the NRA getting much done!

Re: Hornady Amax
If A-Max required expanding condition then the first we would hear about it would be from RFD's selling the bullets and requiring sight of FAC with condition.
Anyone heard that yet?
:-P

Re: Hornady Amax
I have not seen any reference to this any were else. Personally I am going to carry on re loading my stock and shoot them. If my local licensing dept gets in touch and tells me to stop using them I will.
Re: Hornady Amax
I wish I could be as confident as that Kenny. The requirement to secure all airguns seem to come out of left field a bit. How many law-abiding shooters are now breaking a law they know nothing about.it seems unlikely that the HO would condemn law abiding citizens without at least letting them know officially! until its in writing on the HO site it is just speculation and hearsay.

If memory serves correctly, that element of the VCR act came into force in Feb this year. I think the actual wording was along the lines of - To prevent unauthorised use or access of a airgun by a child or minor.Mr_Logic wrote:Requirement to secure all airguns?!
BASC advertised the fact this was coming into force fairly heavily as did the shooting mags I read.
Awaiting a response from BASC regarding the A-Max issuse.

Re: Hornady Amax
I am a Dealer and enquired a couple of weeks ago with my local Firearms Dept. They had no problem with A max bullets.
I have not heard anything from them since.
I'll keep on selling them.

FROM HEATHER
Following further discussions with Surrey Police, this is a recommendation that has come from FELWEG but hasn't been sanctioned by the HO yet. They are fully aware of the outcome to shooters if this does get sanctioned and will work to make sure all FAC holders are informed.
However, at the moment, nothing needs to be done.

Re: Hornady Amax
Strangely enough, ACC Adrian Whiting (Chair of FELWEG) in his report on Cumbria recommended the opposite!
Remove the restrictions created by s9 Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 thus permitting expanding ammunition to be subject to s1 Firearms Act 1968 (as amended) control. This prohibition causes additional administrative work for police in exploring good reason for expanding ammunition and conditioning certificates accordingly. Minimal public safety benefit, if any, has been achieved by this prohibition.

Posters need to be aware that fora like this are monitored by the Police.
I bet every force in the country are on this hoax now.
So the Home Office haven't "just re-classified these as expanding due to the Hornady site saying that somewhere."
People have been selling off...giving away their A-Max and responsible organisations like BASC have been praying rumour mongers would put a sock in it!
NRA shoots us in the foot again!!!
Well, if it wasn't banned before, I bet it will be now!
JEEEEZE!!!!
