I owned several M39s in the 90s. Two had late 60s dates on the barrel and I believe the third had an early 70s date. Great rifles. I find it amazing that the Finns had enough MN actions to satisfy all of their needs from the WW1 era through the adoption of their AK variant.

After the first Great Kerfuffle the Finns were hoovering up all of the captured rifles captured by any power that went toe to toe with the Russians. I’ve owned a few Finn Mosins that had Austro-Hungarian markings.

Also the Soviets dropped a fair few during round two.
