Need a new sub-forum....?
One for the membership and of course the resident red head......
We have sub-forums for general, full bore rifles, military and historic, so how about one for rimfire?
I've really been taken with shooting .22 of late. Cheap, plentifull and bags of fun!
Didn't realise how much it got to me till I wombled in the gunshop again for another 1000 rounds! A couple of rimfire Marlin lever guns, a GSG and a VQ 10/22........ and I have a Taurus LBR sitting with a deposit on it!
Go on, it makes sense.
I even fancy a .22 Benchrest!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Need a new sub-forum....?
We were talking about this the other day...sounds like a good idea to me.

Re: Need a new sub-forum....?
Personaly I shoot more .22 than anything else , but this is a fullbore forum , so I dont say to much about .22 .
But it would be nice to have a dedicated .22 section .
I think the militaryside of things would benefit as the .22 military trainer is poopular and comparable to the FB .
The problem in the UK is a lot of people only associate .22 with vermin control or plinking and very little else .

Re: Need a new sub-forum....?
There are quite a few serious 22 shooters ...NSRA cover them don't they?

Re: Need a new sub-forum....?
.22 is CRAP! ... Got to be 300 WinMag
No, seriously - I'm lucky, as I've got a local 25m range - When I'm shooting GRSB (got a Voere) it's a cheep night out...range fee and a box of 50 for £7!
Personally I'd be interested to hear more discussion on GRSB and on bench rest.
I've got an Anschutz 54 (set up for TR), which I only get to use 3/4 times a year, as my regular range is bench or standing (no prone) - Years ago for fun, I put an old air rifle scope on it, and shot it at 100 yrds (Short Siberia)...with impressive results. If I put a half decent scope on it, is there any reason why it couldn't be a reasonable bench rest rifle...?

I like to test all of my .22s on the bench just to see how well they do perform , its also useful for ammo selection .

.22LR sub forum? Brilliant idea I think, I have been reading Dave's range and rifle development reports with great interest and forming a sub forum somewhere seems like a very logical step to me. The Viking is off forum right now but hopefully she will get something added on her return and maybe migrate some of the existing threads to it :goodjob:
Re: Need a new sub-forum....?
Sounds good to me. I'd like to explore the possibilities for things like running boar or similar which can be shot indoors. I shoot a CZ452 hence my interest.

As a small-bore shooter and Lincolnshire's county rep for the NSRA Shooting Council, I think it's an excellent idea :goodjob: :goodjob:
