A couple of months ago I bought a Marlin underlever in .45 lc. I'm still trying different loadings to get a good group with it using HS6 now going over to Unique. After reading the USA websites they are really stoking up their guns, using a 300 grn at 1200 to 1400 fps. At 100 yards I am sending a 250 rnfp at 1100 fps it makes one almighty thump in the sand backstop. Someone has told me Marlins have sold out and the new company will not be making underlevers for a while, particularly .45 lc. Can anyone confirm ? Over the years I have had several Marlins and I always tune them, new they can be rough but after a days work they are as sweet as a nut.

Production of certain Marlin models has been halted due to appalling quality issues. This is all stemming from Remingtons purchase of Marlin.

Buy a pre Remington Marlin or don't buy one at all.

Yes, Remington have suspended production. Since Remington acquired Marlin, sacked the craftsmen and moved "production" to Ilion, there have been untold problems with quality.

Furniture doesn't fit, finish is appalling, crooked sights shooting 2 feet low, heavy crap trigger pulls, sloppy actions, too tight an action...... there have even been two reported cases of rifles reaching dealers shelves with no rifling!!!!

Seems the problems really started when Remington had used up all of the Marlin produced parts and can't manufacture the parts themselves so they work. Obviously, not having the workforce that know the Marlin rifle is a further handicap.

Some Remington produced rifles have landed in the UK. Just look at the price increase! If looking at second hand guns, or even new, old stock, make sure it has "JM" stamped on the side of the barrel and not "RM".

i shoot a .45 lc marlin in competition,it was one of the first rrom remmington.

it shoots great and makes a bigger hole for scoreing!!

im getting consistent 300 on tp1 and have had a 118 on mt. 1500 ive got 1481. and are improving all the time.

as far as loads go,theres no need to stoke it up,if it only needs to get 50m then just put enough powder to get it there accuratly.

i use 250gn rnfp with 5.7gns of american select. that shoots 50m and 25 without me needing to alter my scope (except paralax)

Hi guys many thanks for the info you have given. I've checked my .45 and the rifling appears to be less deep than my .38/.357. Am interested in running man's load, have you chronoed it. I have to keep my loads under 475 foot/lbs due to club back stop. Checked over my .45 and cannot find JM or RM so I am hoping it's a Marlin. Internally it is typically rough but can be improved once it's been run in, I've now shot about 1K rounds through it and am expecting it to work.

yep it comes out at 850fps,(average). the .45 is not micro groved like the .38 and .44,its called somink ike ballard or something cant quite remember what!! thats why it okks a litte diffrent.
