Case trimming 45/70

#1 Post by Paul101 »

I’m hoping to pick up a Pedersoli rolling block soon and I’m writing out a shopping list of reloading items that I might require and one question comes to mind;
How often do you trim your 45/70 cases after using black powder?
Do the straight 45/70 cases stretch as bottle necked nitro cases do? Curious
Thank you

Hi,
You’ve no doubt got your 45-70 now, I’ve shot that calibre for years in trapdoor, rolling block, sharps, lever action etc. I’ve never found the need to trim the cases being straight walled & low velocity, I do anneal the cases though after 3 firings, it takes no time & I’ve not least a case yet, good luck.
