Scam or breaking the law?
Just found this website which is apparently selling old spec deactivated guns in the UK.

There are plenty of exemptions, so it's neither a scam or breaking the law, it's not the only website with old spec for sale. He may have to re-deactivate them to EU spec depending on who or where it's being sold to.

Oh my God, why would anyone pay that kind of money for something that does not work?

That’s nothing compared to the price of some deactivated firearms!!!.
Part of me can understand that people like re-enactors etc buy them but I can’t understand why they pay so much for them and the other part of me can’t stand deacs, especially when you see some of the rare or unusual rifles that could be owned and shot on a Sec1 certificate that are being deactivated!....that really makes my p-:; fizz!!!.

I don't understand the re-enactor thing. Not knocking it if that is what floats your boat. But I just don't get it.

Scam or breaking the law? Surely scams ARE breaking the law? Fraud is illegal.
As to exemptions regarding deacts ... no idea. Guns that don't go bang are not my cup of tea so I've not kept up.

If you have an interest in firearms history, why not.Alpha1 wrote:Oh my God, why would anyone pay that kind of money for something that does not work?
Unfortunately I can't get these on FAC so the only way was the deact route, they are a fantastic addition to a WW2 firearms collection.

Well, those two items alone put the whole deac issue into perspective. If they were not deacs, they would be lost or scrapped, gone forever.
Now they are preserved forever.

Re: Scam or breaking the law?
We have a local to us chap who collects deacts for exactly this reason
Then there are the people who has lost a relative and would like the gun up on the wall as a memory - fair play say I.
In general I am not keen on deacts for obvious reasons however there are valid exceptions as above.
