Norma HPBT 190 .308 Win. Match

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

I have a box of Norma HPBT 190 .308 Win. Match item number 17626. Has anyone come across them or heard of them? No idea what they will shoot like but I will find out in a few minutes.

I bought a lot of them cheap from York Guns some time ago (years) and stripped them for the brass.
They only had around 35 gr of powder loaded which did surprise me.
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

Brass is about all they are fit for as well. It took a couple of sighters and I was on the money and zeroed at 200m. The electronics showed 3-4cm groups so I was pleased until I peered at the head of one and noticed it had a pierced primer but no sooting around, so keep going, a couple more primers showed a hole where the pin had hit but it was as if the primer had been punched through so off to 600m. They certainly work, I was shooting at a Fig 12 target when all of a sudden a round refused to feed, peering down the chamber I noticed something holding around from entering the chamber, closer examination showed it to be a primer, the bloody thing had fallen out from the shot before. Time to stop. It is either undersize primers or a large primer pocket and I have no way of telling which is a pity

Otherwise the rifle (AI) was very happy and munched it's way through a hundred odd Lapua reloads so I have no reason to fault the rifle.
