An original Marlin 1897, not the "re-run" of a few years ago. Made in 1907. Lovely little original in which a number of internal parts were replaced several years ago out of necessity and also has contemporary sights fitted. I've owned it for the last 15 years. In really nice condition and a joy to use.
There have undoubtably been repairs and renovations to this rifle since she left the factory. The butt plate is not factory and the barrel has been sleeved by Parker Hale at some time and there's no doubt there's been some refinishing, but considering she is now 113 years old, she's doing alright!
There's always the caveat when shooting a rimfire of this age, always use standard or sub sonic velocity ammunition. Never use any sort of high velocity as you'll batter her to death!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
