It is a Turkish made "copy" of a Beretta Silver Pigeon action (hence why it is called SP). Reviews of them are great. I have shot one once and it was good. No complaints. It is a cheap gun at the end of the day but there isn't much to go wrong.
I was tempted by one but in the end bought a second hand gun. You will obviously get more for your money buying second hand. As long as it has been looked after. If you go that way then just ask a friend who knows what they are looking at to go with you.
It is not a Beretta inside, having said that, it is a good looking on the outside and certainly not a Beretta price. Would I have one? probably not however I have the advantage of having a vague idea of what I am looking at when buying used.
For a first time buyer, if you want a new gun this is a fine start.

I am asking this question as someone in a similar position to the Cornish-Viking, would it be worth the extra money to get the one with the riser on the stock?
I have one, the one with the riser stock. It is a lovely gun and for the money I think it's unbeatable value for money. Whether the riser stock is worth the extra is down to your physiology. I don't actually use it in an extended position as I don't need to but bought it without trying it.
Are you able to try one for fit before buying?
